Wacom Pens.. What's the difference?

Posted by Patrick Lim on

We always get asked the difference between the Wacom pens available for purchase. Here's a quick explanation...

Grip Pen

The standard pen included in the Intuos Pro tablet, 22HD, 24HD and 27QHD.  Comes with the stand and extra nibs nicely stashed in the stand.  The Wacom Grip Pen features a contoured grip pad that reduces gripping effort by up to 40%, to alleviate stress and wrist fatigue. Built for extensive use, its optimum weight, balance, and tilt sensitivity make it the most natural feeling freehand tool available. This cordless, battery-free grip pen comes equipped with two customizable side-switches, a pressure sensitive eraser, and an assortment of nibs (three stroke nibs, and three standard nibs). This Grip Pen is a must have for all digital professionals.

Pro Pen

Included in the 13HD and Companion 2. Comes with replacement nibs, color identification rings for easy personalization, and a compact carrying case with magnetic closure for secure transport when not in use.  Very similar to the grip as far as function is concerned. Slightly slimmer for more control and comfort.

Classic Pen

The Wacom Classic Pen features optimum weight and balance, making it the most natural feeling freehand tool available. Built for extensive use, the pen’s slim profile ensures it fits perfectly in your hand. The Classic Pen is cordless, battery-free, with two customizable side switches, tilt sensitivity, and a pressure sensitive eraser.

Art Pen

The Wacom Art Pen combines all the advantages of the digital realm with the classical feel of a felt tip marker, making it a staple for digital professionals and designers. This cordless, battery-free Art Pen features a broad, chisel-shaped pen tip (your choice of plastic or felt), as well as tilt and rotation sensitivity. Rotating the barrel in supporting software applications, such as Corel® Painter or Adobe® Photoshop, creates a unique effect.

Airbrush

A true digital airbrush, the pressure sensitive Wacom Airbrush Pen features tilt sensitivity, spray distance, and a pressure responsive tip for an unbelievably realistic simulation of paint application. The ergonomic finger wheel stays in its last-known position when released, unlike traditional airbrushes, allowing you to accurately and skillfully control the application of digital ink. The Wacom Airbrush Pen is battery-free, cordless, and lightweight; a perfect tool for digital creation, editing, and image retouching.
